Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok are not designed with children in mind. LB504, the Age Appropriate Design Code, would change that by requiring these platforms to implement privacy-by-default and safety-by-design features for minors.
The Nebraska Legislature will vote on this bill soon. It is critical that lawmakers hear directly from you.
Email and/or call your lawmaker below.
Some points you should make in your phone call or email:

2. Tell them you are calling or emailing to urge them to vote FOR LB 504, the Age Appropriate Design Code.
3. Let them know why this issue matters to you in your own words. For example “As a parent (or teacher, or teen, etc), I am very concerned about potential harm that could be caused to kids when they are using certain online platforms. This bill would require those platforms to design their products to prioritize the privacy and safety of children. That’s why I’m asking you to vote for LB 504.”

LB 504 requires digital platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Snapchat to design their services with safety and privacy as the default for users under 18. By holding tech companies accountable, LB504 ensures that young people can use the internet without being exposed to harmful content, invasive data practices, or manipulative design features.
This bill puts Nebraska’s kids first, both online and offline.
